Numansdorp, a town in Hoeksche Waard

Hoeksche Waard is proud to be one of the twenty designated National Landscapes in the Netherlands – and quite rightly so. With its far-reaching views, tree-lined dykes and creeks, the original character of the landscape can still be clearly appreciated. Hoeksche Waard is a stone’s throw away from Rotterdam, Dordrecht and West Brabant, and is entirely surrounded by water. Enjoy this unique landscape at any time of the year.

Walking

Hoeksche Waard is best explored on foot as this is the only way to be sure not to miss any of the scenery. Choose from the wide range of walking opportunities and just set off!
The trails are spread across the entire area of Hoeksche Waard. There are 3 routes in the west, 8 in the middle, and another 5 in the east – ranging from 6 km to 75 km long. The shorter routes are ideal for the whole family, whereas the longer routes will require some stamina. Some routes even involve a bit of climbing.
The Oeverloop is the longest route at 75 km and, as its name suggests (oever meaning embankment in Dutch), it largely runs along the embankments of Hoeksche Waard. On the island of Tiengemeten, there are another 3 walking trails.
